Recently, Professor Stavros Garoufalidis from the Department of Mathematics of the College of Science at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), was invited to serve as an editorial board member of Geometry & Topology, a top international journal in the field of geometry and topology.
Founded in 1997, Geometry & Topology is a peer-reviewed international mathematical research journal devoted to geometry and topology, and their applications. The journal is published by Mathematical Sciences Publishers, a nonprofit academic publishing organization. It has been a top journal in the industry for many years. Its editorial board members are respected experts in the field, including Fields Medal and Abel Prize winners.
Stavros Garoufalidis joined the Department of Mathematics of SUSTech in 2019. Prior to this, he worked at Harvard University, MIT, Brown University, Brandeis University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Warwick, and the Max-Plank-Institute for Mathematics. He is an External Scientific Member of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics.
His research focuses on low-dimensional topology, geometry, and mathematical physics. He has published many papers in journals such as AMS, Inventiones Mathematicae, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA (PNAS), and Duke Mathematical Journal.
He has been awarded honors such as the Sloan Young Scholar Dissertation Fellowship, John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, Simons Foundation Fellowship, and American Mathematical Society (AMS) Centennial Fellowship.
