Last weekend, Southern University of Science and University (SUSTech) took the role as key organizer of the Nanshan Academicians Seminar and the South Forum on condensed matter physics. SUSTech President Chen Shiyi attended the seminar that was presided over by Vice President Teng Jinguang. Dean Yu Dapeng of the Shenzhen Institute of Quantum Science and Engineering chaired the Academicians Seminar. More than 200 heads of physics departments from around China attended the forum, along with high-profile academicians.
Speaking at the Academicians Seminar, Chen Shiyi welcomed the experts and scholars and thanked the Organizational Department of Nanshan District Committee for its support to the Forum. He said that more and more students are choosing to study physics and specifically quantum physics nowadays, so the future development of quantum physics is boundless. He believes that China’s role in the field of quantum science can be as world pioneers.
Yu Dapeng briefed the audience about the Institute of Quantum Science and Engineering, and introduced the lecturers who would give keynote speeches. Academicians Wen Xiaogang, Du Jiangfeng and Yang Xueming gave keynote speeches focusing on the quantum revolution in the condensed matter physics from three different perspectives. Their examination of basic theory, ultra-precise measurement and large scientific devices provided unique perspectives on the condensed matter physics.
SUSTech then hosted the SUSTech Forum on the condensed matter physics. Experts and scholars attended the forum, where they discussed reports from various fields of the condensed matter physics. Experts and scholars were unanimous in their praise for the forum, stating that it provided a professional platform for communication and increased opportunities for mutual learning and exchange.
