Strategic Development Seminar held for College of Sciences

The College of Sciences for Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) recently held its 2019 development seminar. The focus of the seminar was on how to best achieve the strategic objectives of creating a world-class college of science. They wanted to explore different paths and modes of development for the College of Sciences. Dean Yang Xueming of the College of Sciences presided over the meeting.
The meeting discussed some special reports and topics, such as the teaching and scientific research work. There was intense debate around the planning and development for the College of Sciences along with its constituent departments and institutes.
Dean Yang Xueming gave a keynote speech about the future development of the College of Sciences. He comprehensively reviewed the College’s progress in 2018 and put forward some development ideas. Dean Yang Xueming’s concepts inspired everyone to consider new opportunities to improve the College of Sciences and promote improved teaching and scientific research across the College.
Vice Dean of the College of Sciences He Jiaqing and Deputy Secretary of the Committee of the College of Science Lan Hai both made important reports as part of the seminar. Department and research institute heads within the College of Sciences spoke about the opportunities and challenges ahead for their respective organizations.
Dean Yang Xueming concluded that the College of Sciences should seize the opportunity provided by the significant development of SUSTech. The College of Sciences would strengthen its own development around its two core areas of teaching and scientific research. The College will continue to expand its cutting-edge research and move into new fields, as it works to create a world-class college of science of global renown.
