Department of Mathematics

As of June 2019, there are 40 ongoing research projects (25 of the national level) with a total funding of 17.23 million yuan. In 2017, the grants from National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) of China reached 5.58 million yuan, with an approval rate as high as 59% and one as major project; in 2018, the funding from NSFC hit 3.78 million yuan, with an approval rate of 73% (100% for General Programs). In 2019, the Computer Science and New Material Laboratory of the Department was listed as one of the Guangdong Provincial Major Laboratories. 

In the past three years, our faculty members have published approximately 150 papers in academic journals with SUSTech as their affiliation, including 57 SCI papers and two books. On average, each faculty member issues 2.3 papers, which meets the academic output standard of high-level mathematicians according to the statistics of the American Mathematical Society. Half of the papers are published in journals from the quartiles Q1. Some of the papers put forth new models and methods that spark huge interest among experts and some have wide range of applications. 

In addition, 31 of the faculty members act as the editor, deputy editor and member of editorial committee of international academic journals, and 17 serve on academic institutions at home and abroad.
