Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry has independently undertaken more than 88 research projects of national, provincial or municipal level with the funding totaling over 170 million yuan, including 64 grants from National Natural Science Foundation. In the past three years, our faculty members have published more than 440 influential papers in such authoritative chemical journals as Nature, Science, NAT. Comm., Chem. SOC. Rev., JACS, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., with an average impact factor of more than 4.0. Some of the academic research were recommended or highlighted by Nature, Nature Chem. and other journals. The latest ranking of ESI in July 2018 indicates that the discipline of chemistry of SUSTech secures a place in the top 1% of ESI in the world, marking the first time that the University has entered the ESI ranking. According to the ranking, the academic staff of the Department have published 630 ESI papers with citations of 7,687 and an average citation of 12.20. According to the database of Incites, the CNCI (category normalized citation impact) of our chemical papers is 1.93, implying that the average citation of papers is 1.93 times of the world’s average. The Nature Index 2018 Tables demonstrates that the discipline of chemistry of SUSTech ranks among the top 100 in the world and the 28th among the universities in mainland China.
