Professor Xumu Zhang, Vice Dean of the College of Science at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Head of the Medi-X Pingshan, and Professor Deyin Guo, Dean of the School of Medicine at Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU), launched an intensive collaboration to identify an effective and accessible treatment against COVID-19.

Associate Professor Qihang Liu’s research group of the Shenzhen Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering (SIQSE) and the Department of Physics at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), in collaboration with researchers at Nanjing University and Peking University, has made substantial progress in the symmetry description of magnetic materials in the nonrelativistic limit.

Associate Professor Yatao Peng from the Shenzhen Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering (SIQSE) at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), in collaboration with Professor Edoardo Charbon from the Advanced Quantum Architecture Laboratory (AQUA Lab), are working on a cryogenic (Bi)CMOS integrated circuit for quantum applications to solve the scalable control/readout problem for large-scale qubits.

Chair Professor Zhiping Zheng’s research team from the Department of Chemistry at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has recently made significant progress toward this goal. Specifically, the researchers succeeded in extending the Noble Prize-winning Grubbs catalysts for the efficient dehydrogenation of LOHCs. Such an application goes beyond their well-established uses for olefin metathesis reactions. Their findings are detailed in a recent series of research articles.
