The 2023 Annual Conference and Board Election Meeting of the Chinese Association for Applied Statistics-Transition of the Professional Committee on Multivariate Analysis Applications was recently held at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Hengjian CUI, Vice President of the China Field Statistics Research Association, Xueming YANG, Vice President of SUSTech, Jiping ZHANG, Executive Director of the Shenzhen International Center for Mathematics, Qi-Man SHAO, Head of the Department of Statistics and Data Science (STAT-DS) at SUSTech, along with other experts, faculty members, and student representatives attended the conference.

Hengjian CUI said that he would work with other associations to jointly promote the research and progress of multi-analytical applications, and make greater contributions to the development of China’s statistics industry.

Xueming YANG noted that this conference is an important platform for academic exchanges in the field of multivariate analysis (MVA), and hopes that everyone in attendance would communicate and discuss in depth on how to jointly promote the development of MVA applications.

Jiping ZHANG expressed his hope that this conference would further strengthen cooperation between SUSTech and the Chinese Association for Applied Statistics and promote the development of multiple analysis applications.

A new chairman and secretary-general were also elected, and SUSTech was selected as a new supporting unit of the Professional Committee on Multivariate Analysis Applications.

Several scholars presented keynote reports at the conference, including Weidong LIU, Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Jianxin PAN, Professor of Beijing Normal University & Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC), Zhongyi ZHU, Professor of Fudan University, Jinyuan CHANG, Professor of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), and Dr. Wang Hao of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Digital Economy Research Institute.

There were also student reports at the event, creating an opportunity for in-depth sharing, cooperation, and exchanges between universities, research institutes, and industries.

The conference was sponsored by the Chinese Association for Applied Statistics-Transition of the Professional Committee on Multivariate Analysis Applications and hosted by the Department of STAT-DS at SUSTech. It was co-organized by the College of Science at SUSTech and the Shenzhen International Center for Mathematics.
