On the evening of September 9, 2019, the 1st welcome party for the first-year graduate students of the College of Science of SUSTech was held in the Faculty's Home. With all seats taken, there has been an exciting atmosphere in the party.

Academician Yang Xueming, Dean of the College of Science, Professor He Jiaqing, Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Dean, and Head of the Department of Physics of the College of Science, Professor Wang Xiaoming, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Professor Zheng Zhiping, Head of the Department of Chemistry, Professor Liu Kaijun, Deputy Head of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences, Professor Shao Qiman, Head of the Department of Statistics and Data Science, Professor Zhang Wenqing, Vice Dean of the Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering, and Professor Xia Haiping, Executive Director of the Shenzhen Grubbs Institute, attended the party and delivered speeches. Professor Luo Rui and Associate Professor Tian Ruijun of the Department of Chemistry, Lan Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Colleges of Science, and part of the administrative secretaries of the College of Science and the departments attended the party. More than 100 students showed up, including the graduate students of Grade 2019 and part of the undergraduates of the College of Science, as well as part of the students from sibling colleges and departments.

The theme of this new year's new students welcome party is "Graduates of the College of Science, Welcome on Board”, which implies the welcome of the College of Science for the long-expected master and doctoral students. At the party, the students were so talented that they sang and danced, played musical instruments, sang songs and performed street dances. The party has shown the positiveness and versatility of the first-year graduate students, attracting the new students to join the big family of the College and explore the infinite wonderfulness of the campus life of SUSTech together.
