On December 5 and 6, 2020 Shenzhen International Conference on Statistics and Data Science, one of the activities in celebration of SUSTech’s 10th anniversary, was held by the SUSTech Department of Statistics and Data Science (Stat-DS). The conference was live-streamed, with over 300 experts and scholars attending the meeting.

SUSTech President Qikun XUE delivered a speech via video. He affirmed the achievements of Stat-DS and said its rapid development would empower SUSTech to become a high-level research university, serve the national big data strategy, and promote China’s economic and social development.

Head of Stat-DS Qi-man SHAO introduced the development of Stat-DS in the last year. He said that the Department will continue to attract and cultivate the first-class faculty, create a world-class interdisciplinary and innovative statistical research platform, build a unique first-class discipline of statistics and data science, and cultivate top-notch innovative talents in related fields.

11 experts and scholars in the field of statistics and data science gave reports respectively and answered the questions of participants.

The two-day conference focused on topics like probability statistics, AI, statistics, and machine learning, with an aim to promote the research and development of statistics and data science to a new level.
