Earlier this week, the Department of Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) signed a strategic cooperation framework with the Shenzhen Emergency Command Information Support Center.

On the afternoon of September 1, 2019, the 3rd lecture of the series of adaptive education for graduate freshmen of College of Science was held in Classroom 102, Lychee Hills Block 1. Xue Zheng, SUSTech’s Director of Office of Student Affairs and Secretary of Youth League Committee, brought about a 1.5-hour-long vivid and profound adaptation course to graduate students (including doctoral degree and master degree candidates) of College of Science. More than 100 postgraduate freshmen attended the lecture with Lan Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Science, as the host.

Earlier today, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) launched the Department of Statistics and Data Science (SDS), before hosting the Symposium of Data Science. SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, Vice President Tang Tao and Acting Vice President Zhang Dongxiao all attended the SDS launch. They were joined by academicians, fellows, experts and scholars from top universities across China and around the world. Vice President Tang Tao presided over the launch.

As part of the Academic Program Review Process implemented by Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), an external review team, made up of top experts, met last week to discuss and evaluate how effectively the Geophysics program is working at SUSTech.

The Department of Mathematics at Southern University of Science and Technology held its 2019 spring strategy seminar at the end of March. SUSTech President Chen Shiyi and Vice President Tang Tao attended the meeting along with 60 people from across the Department of Mathematics. The seminar was chaired by Director and Chair Professor Wang Xiaoming.

The College of Sciences for Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) recently held its 2019 development seminar. The focus of the seminar was on how to best achieve the strategic objectives of creating a world-class college of science. They wanted to explore different paths and modes of development for the College of Sciences. Dean Yang Xueming of the College of Sciences presided over the meeting.
